So I went in yesterday for my 4th Laser Hair Treatment at Elase (to comply with federal law I have to inform you up front that I am being treated for FREE in exchange for these posts). And…just when I thought I knew everything about this process, I learned something new.
Before I tell you what I learned, I’ll first say that after 4 treatments, the results are fairly amazing. My armpits are totally bald! Like I haven’t seen a hair there since I started this thing in May. I’m also having great results, elsewhere…
Now, I’ll tell you the new thing I learned, but be warned, IF YOU ARE A MAN, stop reading here. I mean, unless you are okay hearing me talk about lady stuff that might include, but isn’t limited to menstruation. There I said it. Are you afraid now? STOP. READING. NOW.
So…the thing I learned. All along I have been raving about how pain-free this has been. Last time, I experienced more discomfort because I didn’t shave before I went in. Read here if you missed that and want to know WHY it is SO important that you shave.
This time I was absolutely, positively clean shaven. Like, I shaved an hour before I went. But…It turns out that IF you are pregnant, going through menopause, or are menstruating, you’re likely to be more sensitive to the laser pulses. AKA, it’s quite uncomfortable. In an effort to maintain my own privacy, I won’t say which of these things was happening to me, but I’m not pregnant.
The laser was more uncomfortable than I was expecting although it was totally tolerable. It’s all so fast anyway, it’s really not worth worrying about. If you prefer, they do have an ointment called Dr. Numb that you can apply 20 minutes beforehand and it will numb you up nicely.
I have never bothered with the ointment, but I might next time, mainly so I can tell you how much of a difference it makes.
Anyway…those are the facts from my last trip to Elase.
